Well, good pitching also beats bad batting.
In his postgame interview the Cottonwood manager said, "Marvin Davis made us look real bad today. He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Davis had 1 strikeout, no walks and allowed only 5 hits as the Winnemucca Miners whitewashed the Cottonwood Rattlers 5-0.

He compiled a .417 average (10-24) with 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
