Tuesday, September 2nd, 1958: Super Season, Fowler Wins Outstanding Hitter Award
Bob Fowler of the Niagara Waves had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Outstanding Hitter Award for 1958.

The 25-year-old right fielder put up a .376 average and a .462 on-base percentage, piling up 117 hits, 26 doubles, 5 triples, 18 home runs, 101 RBIs and 87 runs scored.
Monday, September 1st, 1958: Top Pitcher Trophy Won by Golden Hornets Pagán
23-year-old Albert Pagán of the Cheektowaga Golden Hornets put together a good year in 1958 for such a young player. Pagán was named today as the winner of the Appalachian League Outstanding Pitcher Award.

Pagán crafted an impressive 34-9 record and a 2.79 ERA. In 370.2 innings he allowed 340 hits, struck out 145, and walked 55.

Defense is a critical element in the game of baseball. Many times late in the game, a light-hitting defensive specialist will be inserted in place of a superstar hitter.

Good defenders are worth their weight in gold, and today the best of them for 1958 have been recognized. These players will receive the Appalachian League Glove Wizard Award:
