Future Stars League 09-11-1950 Home | | | Breaking News |  | Sunday, September 10th, 1950: Premier Batter Named by Future Stars League There's something special about a guy who can stride up to the plate and put the ball anywhere -- in the stands, off the wall, into the gap, down the third base line -- you name the place and Ron Baldwin probably put it there to win the Future Stars League Outstanding Hitter Award for 1950.
The New Haven first baseman belted out 148 hits on his way to a .355 batting average and racked up 31 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs, 54 RBI and 64 runs scored.
All of the league award winners will be acknowledged this weekend at the SION Baseball Writers Association annual dinner. |  | Saturday, September 9th, 1950: Top Pitcher Trophy Won by Harbor Haynes The hottest hurler in the Future Stars League last season was Andy Haynes of the Tampa Bay Harbor. He caught the attention of everybody in the league by scorching every team in sight to win the 1950 FBLA Outstanding Pitcher Award.
Haynes starred with an impressive 29-10 record in 57 starts. The Harbor ace gave up 331 base hits and struck out 207 in 397 innings with a 2.45 ERA.
