Hard work, long hours and a tireless resolve paid off in the form of the PBPL Single A Outstanding Hitter Award today.
King hit for a .360 average and collected 121 hits, 24 doubles, 1 triple, 7 home runs, 54 RBIs and scored 53 times.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season. |  | Sunday, August 28th, 1949: Berkeley Pitcher Racks Up Outstanding Pitcher Award The PBPL Single A announced today that Robert Newman has been chosen the Outstanding Pitcher Award for 1949. The Berkeley starter had everything working for him this past season as he breezed to a 16-6 record.
In his impressive award-winning season Newman crafted a 2.00 ERA in 202.1 innings with 147 strikeouts and 48 walks. Teams hit .198 against him in 23 starts.
The SION Baseball Writers Association will honor all of the award winners this weekend at its annual meeting. | | | | |
