| Breaking News |  | Friday, September 1st, 1950: Kansas City's Sargent Shuts Out Whalers Ed Sargent of the Kansas City Outlaws was in command from start to finish in his 8-0 shutout win over the Worcester Whalers. He struck out 5, walked 3 and allowed 6 hits.
"I felt strong the entire game," Sargent said. "I felt like I had my good stuff. It was just one of those games when everything was working."
In 1950 Sargent has fashioned a 21-1 mark, 2.56 ERA and pitched 214.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .208 against him and he has logged 86 strikeouts. |  | Wednesday, August 30th, 1950: Cruz Goes 5-5 Against Kansas City Who needs batting practice? Luis Cruz of Worcester apparently doesn't as he peppered Kansas City with a 5-hit outburst in today's game. He got the hits, but lost the game. The Outlaws pulled out a 18-6 win.
He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. Wow, this was really something... a 5 for 5 day... will my name be in the record books now?"
One of his teammates hollered out, "No, only if your team wins the game!"
L. Cruz singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off R. Hefley in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off R. Lewis in the 9th.
This season Cruz is batting .300 with 14 home runs. His totals include 60 RBIs and 61 runs scored. |  | Saturday, August 12th, 1950: Kenny Ellis of Kansas City Injured, DTD Kansas City star starting pitcher Kenny Ellis was injured yesterday against Indianapolis while throwing the ball. He sustained a finger blister and is listed on the injury report as day-to-day. The team trainer said Ellis will likely not miss too much action, perhaps 2 weeks.
