Pete Young humbled the Wilkes-Barre Goobers today at Groundhogs Ballpark. In the 8-0 shutout win, he yielded 4 hits, fanned 3 and walked 1 to pace the Punxsutawney Groundhogs to victory.
This year Young has a 24-11 record with a 4.00 ERA in 46 starts.

 | Wednesday, July 30th, 1958: Razor-Sharp Palmer Blanks Las Vegas
In an excellent mound performance, Josh Palmer of the Wilkes-Barre Goobers whitewashed the Las Vegas Outlaws 4-0 on a 3-hitter.
He said after the game, "I had my best stuff and did a good job of mixing up my pitches."
The Las Vegas manager said, "We just didn't swing the bats well today. Palmer did a good job keeping us guessing."
In all, the Wilkes-Barre hurler rang up 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in the shutout win.
Up to now Palmer has recorded a record of 12-9. In 22 starts he has fanned 79 batters in 149 innings with a 3.99 ERA.

Don Alvarado dominated Hershey with a brilliant 4-hit shutout in the Goobers 4-0 triumph at Goobers Ballpark. The Wilkes-Barre hurler fanned 6 and walked 4 in the game.
