In an excellent mound performance, Josh Palmer of the Wilkes-Barre Goobers whitewashed the Las Vegas Outlaws 4-0 on a 3-hitter.
He said after the game, "I had my best stuff and did a good job of mixing up my pitches."
The Las Vegas manager said, "We just didn't swing the bats well today. Palmer did a good job keeping us guessing."
In all, the Wilkes-Barre hurler rang up 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in the shutout win.
Up to now Palmer has recorded a record of 12-9. In 22 starts he has fanned 79 batters in 149 innings with a 3.99 ERA.

It was a smooth and solid performance by Don Alvarado of the Wilkes-Barre Goobers against Las Vegas today. He crafted a fine 4-hitter in blanking them 2-0 and chalked up 2 strikeouts and 3 walks along the way.
"It certainly makes my job easy," said the Wilkes-Barre skipper. "When my pitcher pitches a shutout. I can just sit back, watch and enjoy."
In 1958 thus far, Alvarado has tossed 85 innings in 13 starts, fanned 33 batters, walked 24 and put up a 4.98 ERA with 5 wins and 5 losses.

 | Wednesday, June 18th, 1958: Hot Bat Cooled, Rojas Hitless Against Outlaws
The Las Vegas Outlaws pitching did its job today, holding hot-hitting Roberto Rojas hitless in 5 at-bats during a 4-3 victory over the Scranton Moose Calves at Moose Calves Ballpark. This disappointing performance ended his 22-game hitting streak.
"I'm a little down right now," Rojas told BNN after the game. "I couldn't get anything going when the team needed me and I hated to see the streak end, too."
Rojas is swinging at a .383 pace on the year with no home runs, 21 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has played in 60 games.
