| Breaking News |  | Sunday, September 10th, 1950: Dave Franklin Out for 2 Weeks
Dave Franklin at first refused to leave today's Providence-Portland game after he suffered a strained hamstring muscle while running the bases. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I'm a competitor," the feisty Portland first baseman said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Franklin out of action for 2 weeks.
This season Franklin is swinging the bat at a .302 rate with 184 hits in 610 at-bats. To date he has hit 17 home runs, scored 112 runs and driven in 86. |
 | Saturday, July 22nd, 1950: Steve Morales of Portland Injured, DTD
Portland star second baseman Steve Morales was injured yesterday against San Diego while running the bases. He sustained a strained calf muscle and is listed on the injury report as day-to-day. The team trainer said Morales will likely not miss too much action, perhaps 2 weeks.
This season in 87 games Morales is batting .342 with 2 home runs, 28 RBIs and has scored 67 times.

"Don't believe everything you hear." was the word from the team's ownership group after rumors of Lynn Dixon wanting out of Portland surfaced late yesterday. No one knows exactly how this news broke and Dixon laughed it off when told of the story.
