Thursday, July 27th, 1950: Austin Batters San Diego for 5 Hits
Millard Austin told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard."

Well, that's just what Austin of the Los Angeles Quake did against the San Diego Suns. He went to the plate 5 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, much to the chagrin of the Suns, who suffered a 8-2 defeat.

"Not much that I can say," offered the losing manager, "he just hammered the heck out of us."

M. Austin singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

Looking at his season stats, Austin has compiled a .286 batting average and a .326 on-base percentage, while hitting 4 home runs and driving in 31 runs.
Wednesday, July 5th, 1950: 2000 Hits for Richards
It was a banner day for Rob Richards, who collected his 2000th hit in the Kansas City 8-2 win over Los Angeles. Richards went 1-4 in the game as both Outlaws and Quake fans cheered Richards, when he reached base after his historic hit.

"It feels great to get #2000," Richards said afterward, "especially since we won the game."

In his career Richards has gotten 2000 hits with a .323 batting average, scored 1314 runs, hit 194 home runs and driven in 778.
