Sunday, August 13th, 1950: Rogers Mystifies Eugene
Andrew Rogers shut 'em down and shut 'em out, hurling Chula Vista past Eugene 2-0 in a complete game victory.

He told SION sportswriters in the postgame interview, "This is a game of adjustments and I made some good ones in this game."

Rogers held the Eugene Tanners without a run, tossing a 2-hitter while walking 3 and fanning 2.

This year Rogers is 7-and-21 with 4 saves and a 3.73 ERA. He has given up 254 hits in 275.1 innings with 205 strikeouts.

Saturday, August 5th, 1950: Lowry Hurls Vetrans to Shutout Win
Judd Lowry put a hex on Chula Vista in a sparkling 3-0 shutout performance, mesmerizing them on a 2-hit gem.

"I feel good physically," he said. "Everything's comfortable. You should pitch well when that's the case."

It was anything but comfortable for Chula Vista.

"Lowry used his changeup very well, very effectively," the opposing manager said. "He threw it in hitter's counts."

The Dayton Vetrans hurler fanned 15 and walked 1.

Tuesday, August 1st, 1950: FBLAAA Pitcher of the Month Goes to Witheridge
Frank Witheridge was pure poison coming out of the Redbirds bullpen in July. For his outstanding performance, he picked up the International League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Chula Vista Redbirds reliever had no saves for the month with a 6-3 record and 1.71 ERA. He made 1 relief appearance, hurled 73.2 innings, yielded 55 hits, fanned 65 and walked 18.
