Saturday, July 15th, 1950: Soto Humbles Oakland
Cisco Soto put a hex on Oakland in a sparkling 2-0 shutout performance, mesmerizing them on a 6-hit gem.

"I feel good physically," he said. "Everything's comfortable. You should pitch well when that's the case."

It was anything but comfortable for Oakland.

"Soto used his changeup very well, very effectively," the opposing manager said. "He threw it in hitter's counts."

The Syracuse Retrievers hurler fanned 6 and walked 0.

Soto in 1950 has fashioned a 10-10 mark, 3.11 ERA and thrown 176.2 innings in 21 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .251 against him.
Monday, June 26th, 1950: Lowry Too Tough, Blanks Oakland
"That was one of my best outings," said Judd Lowry. "I was worried a lot in the bullpen. My ball wasn't quite right. Luckily, it can be two different worlds -- the bullpen and the game. Once I stepped on the field, it all fell into place."

It was an impressive start for the Vetrans hurler. He blanked the Oaks 1-0 on a strong 2-hitter while ringing up 15 strikeouts and doling out 1 walk.

His 1950 stats sheet shows Lowry has managed to hold opponents to a .157 average in no relief appearances, while putting up 3-5 record with 85 strikeouts and 23 walks in 74.2 innings. He has a 2.29 ERA with no saves.
Thursday, June 15th, 1950: Castillo Struts Stuff in Oakland Win
Speaking after the game, the Toledo manager said, "Francisco Castillo had everything going for him. He controlled their bat speed, stayed down, had a lot of movement... he had it all...masterful."

Castillo held the Oakland Oaks to 2 hits and fashioned a fine 3-0 shutout. He had 2 walks and no strikeouts in the game.

"We couldn't get anything going. He certainly had our number," the Oakland skipper told reporters.

This year Castillo has worked 103 innings with 39 strikeouts en route to a 7-5 record and a 2.88 ERA.
