| Breaking News |  | Tuesday, August 8th, 1950: Wildcats Gilliam Blanks Colorado Springs "It was just one of those games, when everything went right. I threw a lot of strikes," Roger Gilliam said. "And the pitches they did get to hit, they didn't do anything with them."
The Ogden Wildcats pitcher really got it done in his 1-0 shutout victory over the Colorado Springs Harriers, shutting them down on 5 hits. Gilliam issued 1 walk and had 4 strikeouts.
Thus far this season Gilliam has posted a 11-13 record, started 27 games, struck out 107 batters in 192 innings and compiled a 3.89 ERA. |  | Saturday, August 5th, 1950: Harbor Win, Shut Out Wildcats In an almost effortless performance, Dan Wheeler of the Harbor shot down the Wildcats 1-0 on a 5-hit shutout.
His skipper said, "Dan was just locating so well and using his pitches...not leaving anything over the plate."
Wheeler recorded 4 strikeouts and no walks in a strong outing.
In the postgame press conference, the Ogden manager said, "When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game like he can and we couldn't get a key hit off him."
This year Wheeler has gone 17-13 with an ERA of 2.32 and has 193 strikeouts in 263.1 innings. |  | Monday, July 31st, 1950: Smith Tosses Shutout Against Ogden A masterful pitching performance carried the Fort Worth River Rats to a 3-0 victory over Ogden. Dan Smith held them scoreless in a complete game effort. He permitted 6 hits, had 5 strikeouts and allowed 1 walk.
The skipper of the Wildcats said, "Smith was sharp. We never did figure him out."
