| Breaking News | | Friday, September 1st, 1950: Dominíquez Voted August's Best FBL Rookie A rookie, Carlos Dominíquez is turning heads around the Federal Baseball League, especially since he just netted August's Rookie of the Month trophy.
The Jersey City third baseman batted .352 last month and collected 37 hits, 9 home runs, 29 RBIs and 23 runs scored.
This could be the first of many such awards if he continues this torrid hitting, but he's definitely put himself in a good position to claim the Rookie of the Year Award later this year.
In 130 games this season Dominíquez has batted at a .311 pace with 160 hits and 20 home runs. | | Sunday, August 13th, 1950: González 5-5 for Industrials During a player's career, there are days that stand out, and this day was definitely special! Javier González went 5 for 5 against the Salt Lake Strikers at Toxic Dump Stadium and the Industrials picked up a 15-13 victory.
He exclaimed, "What a day! We win and I get 5 hits! Couldn't be better!" The delighted catcher was really enjoying the happiness of the moment in the press room.
"He was patient up there today," the Jersey City skipper told the press after the game. "I like the way he waited for his pitch and wasn't overly agressive. González has a tendency to go after some bad balls sometimes."
J. González singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off B. Ritter in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off J. Hernández in the 8th.
González is swinging at a .241 pace on the year with 2 home runs, 12 RBIs and 8 runs scored. He has played in 42 games. | | Saturday, August 12th, 1950: Miller Spins Shutout Against Explorers "He was too darn good for us today," grumbled the Columbus manager after his club suffered a 13-0 shutout at the hands of Evan Miller of the Jersey City Industrials. He held the Columbus Explorers scoreless in a 5-hit whitewash.
Miller was in a zone of his own most of the game and finished with 4 strikeouts and 5 walks in a strong outing.
In a postgame quote his own skipper added, "He pitched his butt off, had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. Evan did a whale of a pitching job."
Miller has nailed down 8 saves to date. In 98 innings he has fanned 58 batters and walked 42. His pitching record is 4 wins and 10 losses with a 2.76 ERA. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | SS Todd Holt | strained back muscle | 4 days | Not on DL | | P Peter Johns | strained back muscle | 5 days | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 72-79, .477 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 22.0 GB | | Record at home | 36-40, .474 PCT | | Record on the road | 36-39, .480 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 7-11, .389 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 15-25, .375 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 23-27, .460 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 49-52, .485 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 3-7, .300 PCT | | Record in April | 14-14, .500 PCT | | Record in May | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in June | 14-13, .519 PCT | | Record in July | 10-19, .345 PCT | | Record in August | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in September | 2-7, .222 PCT |
