Providence starting pitcher Dave Miller today confirmed that he will retire at the end of the season.
On his lifetime ledger sheet, the 38-year-old Miller has won 231 and lost 228 with a 3.51 ERA. |

Luis Miguel Chávez of the Baltimore Lords put the clamps on the opposition and held the Providence Reds scoreless in a 3-hit whitewash.
"He's got some good stuff, but we should have done better than that," said the Providence skipper after the 9-0 loss.
Chávez was on target most of the game and finished with 9 strikeouts and 1 walk.
In 1950, Chávez has a 18-7 mark in 28 starts with a 4.14 ERA. He has given up 233 hits in 223.2 innings, struck out 147 and issued 72 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .269 batting average against him.

David James shut 'em down and shut 'em out, hurling Worcester past Providence 8-0 in a complete game victory.
He told SION sportswriters in the postgame interview, "This is a game of adjustments and I made some good ones in this game."
James held the Providence Reds without a run, tossing a 4-hitter while walking 4 and fanning 11.
James has made 5 starts, tossed 36 innings, struck out 27 batters and walked 17. His record is 2-2 with a 4.50 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .258 batting average.
