Wednesday, August 30th, 1950: Cruz Goes 5-5 Against Kansas City
Who needs batting practice? Luis Cruz of Worcester apparently doesn't as he peppered Kansas City with a 5-hit outburst in today's game. He got the hits, but lost the game. The Outlaws pulled out a 18-6 win.

He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. Wow, this was really something... a 5 for 5 day... will my name be in the record books now?"

One of his teammates hollered out, "No, only if your team wins the game!"

L. Cruz singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off R. Hefley in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off R. Lewis in the 9th.

This season Cruz is batting .300 with 14 home runs. His totals include 60 RBIs and 61 runs scored.
Saturday, August 19th, 1950: James Superb Against Providence
David James shut 'em down and shut 'em out, hurling Worcester past Providence 8-0 in a complete game victory.

He told SION sportswriters in the postgame interview, "This is a game of adjustments and I made some good ones in this game."

James held the Providence Reds without a run, tossing a 4-hitter while walking 4 and fanning 11.

James has made 5 starts, tossed 36 innings, struck out 27 batters and walked 17. His record is 2-2 with a 4.50 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .258 batting average.
