Garland Flowers of the Buffalo Dogs gave the Suns a steady diet of fine pitches and he walked off the mound with a complete game shutout. He blanked them 10-0 on 4 hits with a total of 7 strikeouts and 1 walk.
The Buffalo manager said, "Flowers was on quite a roll. He gets great late movement and he doesn't give in to the hitters."
To date this year in 27 starts, Flowers has crafted a 14-5 mark with a 2.74 ERA.

 | Saturday, August 12th, 1950: Buffalo's Ortega Injured
It took the Buffalo team doctor a while to realize it, but starting pitcher Nesto Ortega won't simply play through a bruised cheekbone after he got hurt being hit by a pitch in today's Black Knights-Dogs game. At first, it looked like Ortega might be back as early as tomorrow, but now the prognosis isn't quite so good; he's expected to miss at least 2 weeks. A spokesman for the club described the loss of Ortega as a blow, but was confident that he'd be back soon.
Year-to-date Ortega shows a 14-6 record, 27 starts, 191 innings, 159 strikeouts and a 2.83 ERA.
