Noticed Sergio Lopez (recently signed by Portland):
http://reports.federal-league.com/news/html/players/player_1138.htmlPlayed in both Cuba and the MLB during 1959 - pretty cool. Will be interesting to see if age (36) + 184 games at shortstop in a season has any effect on Lopez this season.

We only signed Lopez to a one year deal due to his age. I'm curious how he'll perform. He'll actually be playing 3B for the Pioneers and has to be an upgrade over what we had at the hot corner last year. We had budget to spend and a one yearr deal won't kill us. If he can get on base at a decent clip and set the table I'll be pleased.

Bob Pruittmay have been the first player to play in all three leagues.
He is the single season hits, HR and RBI record holder in the MLB.
Last season he spent an injury riddled year in Minnesota of the FBL. He was released after the regular season ended and signed for Santa Clara in Cuba two days later. At age 39 he remains in the free agent pool.

Opening Day Sim Report
The biggest news from the Opening Day sim was a no-hitter by New Orleans' Sam Crawford, who struck out 10 and walked 4 in a 2-0 win over Houston. It was the league's seventh no-hitter and second in team history.Oakland's Wayne Johnson gave up one hit in the second inning, otherwise he would have had the second no-hitter of the season against Seattle on the 13th.
On the injury front, there was only one long-term injury this sim as Portland lost OF Brandon Hamilton for 4 months.

April 14th through April 23rd Sim Report
Two 20+ game hit streaks - one active, one ended - this sim. Portland's Jermaine Gibbs ended a 20-game hit streak this sim against Rochester. Columbus' Blaine Pope is currently riding a 22-game hit streak. One more game would tie him with the league's longest, which was set in 1956 by Julio Lopez from New Orleans.Speaking of Lopez, the Black Sox lost him this sim for up to 4 months - his second consecutive injury-shortened season. And speaking of regularly occurring injuries, Larry Bryant (Sea) got hurt again - this time for 8 months. It is Bryant's fourth 2+ month injury. He has only played one full season in the FBL, which is a shame considering how talented Bryant is...
On the pitching end, Birmingham loss their #1 starter for the season, as Wayne Cross is out 11 months with a torn rotator cuff. Big loss for the Bullfrogs, who had high expectations for the 24-year old pitcher. And finally, Denver lost pitcher Herman Newman for four months with a torn labrum. Newman was pegged as the Pines #3 starter this season.

April 24th through May 3rd
Biggest news out of the sim is the injury to Portland's star pitcher, Chuck Sullivan, who will miss 12 months with an arm injury. A huge loss for the Pioneers!
On a positive note, Columbus' Blaine Pope extended his hit streak to 31 games! Amazing stuff and a new league record. Hopefully he can keep it going!
The April Players of the Month awards were announced:
-Columbus' Ed Boone took home the hitting prize after going .388-10-31 in April.
-New Orleans' Sam Crawford took the pitching prize after going 4-1 with a 1.94 ERA and a no-hitter.
-Buffalo's Jim Simmons took the rookie award for April after hitting .365-3-16.Other key injuries from around the league: San Diego lost Charlie Hammond for 3 weeks, Minneapolis lost Ken Jackson for a month, and Tucson lost closer Jose Corona for up to 3 weeks.
Looking around the standings after one full month, Buffalo is on top of the Northeast Division, with a one game lead over Rochester and two over Minneapolis. In the Southeast, Richmond is on top with a two game lead over New Orleans and three over Miami. In the West, Portland and San Diego are tied for the lead, with a two game lead over Denver.

Loss of Sullivan is a huge blow to the Pioneers. Hopefully we can find a way make this work.

And largest team run differentials:

May 4th through May 23rd
Making up for the missed sim report...Blaine Pope's hitting streak finally ended at 35 games. Twelve games longer than the previous league record. Amazing!
Portland's Paco Giméntez set a single game record by striking out 16 Denver hitters on May 23rd. Previously, four pitchers shared the single game K record with 15 strikeouts.
Looking around the standings, Minneapolis is on top of the Northeast with a 28-17 record and 1.5 game lead over Buffalo. Rochester sits 3 games back and Indy 4.5 games behind the Moose.
In the Southeast, New Orleans is on top of Richmond by 1.5 games, while Birmingham sits 2 games back and Miami 2.5 behind the Black Sox.
In the West, Portland is on top with a league best 30-16 record and a 3 game lead over San Diego. Denver is 5 games back and Seattle 6.5 behind the Pioneers.
The Wild Card is currently a tie between Buffalo and San Diego, with a 1.5 game lead over Rochester, two over Denver, 2.5 over Richmond, and three over Birmingham and Indy.

Sorry I haven't been keeping this up consistently!
June 23rd through July 2nd Sim Report
May's Players of the Month were announced by the league office this week:
Miami's Fred McNeal took home the pitcher award, after going 6-0 with a 2.12 ERA during the month.
New Orleans' Jorge Ángel took the batter award, after hitting .320-10-30 during May.
Buffalo's Jim Simmons won the rookie of the month award, after hitting .333-6-28 during May.
We have two 20+ game hit streaks going on... Houston's Dusty Buck (currently 23 games, tied for 2nd longest in league history) and Buffalo's Baldassare Cantone (21 games). After Blaine Pope's amazing streak to start the season, this mid-summer race should be fun to watch. Cantone has been especially hot lately, racking up 22 hits over the last 8 games.
Looking around the league standings, Minneapolis and Buffalo are tied on top of the Northeast Division, with a four game lead over Rochester. In the Southeast, New Orleans has a five game lead over Miami. In the West, Portland holds a four game lead over Seattle and eight over Denver as we head into July.
